Episode 05: Nicole Loher
In this episode of Spill It guest Nicole Loher goes through her career trajectory that has included working for some of the biggest brands in fashion, beauty, and tech. If you grew up on Tumblr in the early aughts it is safe to say you probably know or have at least heard of this week’s guest Nicole Loher. Nicole’s trajectory has been anything but typical and she breaks down the ways in which she strategically chose the roles and companies that would get her to where she wanted to be. From her time at FIT where she held down 8 internships for some of today’s biggest brands like Warby Parker and Fashion Designer Nanette Lapore, to corporate gigs like Nars and Christian Louboutin. As someone who started out in the fashion world and pivoted to social media and brand strategy, Nicole also gives us insight into what it looks like to be an adjunct professor at NYU and creating an accredited certificate that she helped create for NYU’s first social media curriculum.
As is life, Nicole’s life and career trajectory has been affected by a series of choices. The choice that one might say has had the biggest impact on Nicole was her time at the environmentally-conscious Hypergiant which helped solidify her plan for the future and committing to fighting the environmental and climate change crisis by getting her masters in Climate Change and Public Policy at Columbia University. Nicole’s long-term plan is to become a CMO/C-suite level at a green tech company where she can bring her long honed strategy skills and environmental school studies to enact long-term change.
